RCM’s Qur’anic Sciences Program is specifically designed for elementary and middle school students looking for a stronger focus in Qur’an and Classical Arabic.
Unlike ISP, QSP classes are organized by the student’s Arabic reading and writing competency and not by grade. The QSP curriculum is structured around three learning levels:
Level 1 (Beginner/Nuraniyah): Students learn how to read Arabic as it is written in the Qur’an using the Nuraniyah methodology. On average, students who start with no knowledge of Arabic are able to read from the Qur’an alone after two years, given that they have enrolled in the weekday schedule and attend class twice a week. A portion of the beginner class is dedicated to writing Arabic.
Level 2 (Intermediate/Tilawa): Students in the intermediate level build upon what they have learned in the previous level and continue improving their Qur’an reading skills. A portion of the intermediate class is dedicated to writing Arabic.
Level 3 (Advanced/Hifdh): Students in this level are fluent and independent Qur’an readers. Thus, they begin Qur’anic memorization utilizing an individualized pacing schedule, created in coordination with parents and teachers. A portion of this class is dedicated to tafsir (Qur’anic exegesis). Many students graduate from this level and move on to be full-time Qur’anic memorization students in RCM’s Al-Bayan Institute.
QSP operates on a semester schedule and offers two class times: Sunday from 2:30pm – 4pm ($120/semester per child) and Tuesdays/Thursdays from 4pm – 5:15pm ($170/semester per child). Registration opens 1-2 months prior to the start of each semester, usually around July/August for first semester and November/December for second semester. Financial assistance is offered on an at-need basis and for families registering three children or more.
